What To Tell The Dispatcher
- Your street address and the nearest cross street or landmark.
- Where the water is: a ceiling, a basement, a ground floor, a crawl space.
- What the source seems to be, if you know: a pipe, an appliance, the roof or outside water.
- Whether the water has reached outlets or anything electrical, and whether you smell gas or sewage.
If you smell gas or see sparks, leave the building and call 911 first. For public sewer emergencies, WSSC Water lists 301-206-4002. After that, call us. You can read about what each service covers before you call.
